Pityriasis rosea / Christmas tree rashes
Christmas tree rash is mild, itchy, scaly rash that ranges in color from pink to light brown. The way the rashes look may differ from one person to another.It often starts as a larger location in the spine or the middle back or front of the body (herald patch) and the distribution outward. It may last months longer when it occurs in the age group ogf 60's. Pityriasis rosea is a skin rash that usually affects adolescents and young adults. It is usually in the spring and autumn, and is probably caused by a virus, although it is not contagious. Pityriasis comes from the Greek word for bran. The condition is so named because its light, flaky rash was thought to resemble delicate skin of grain.Some patients with this disease will have some itching that can be severe, especially when the patient becomes overheated. Occasionally there may be other symptoms, including tiredness and aching. * Skin lesion or rash o Starts with a single (herald) lesion o Followed several days later by more lesions o May follow cleavage lines or appear in a "Christmas tree" pattern o Oval plaque, papule, or macule o Sharp border o May spread o Centers have wrinkled (cigarette paper) appearance o The lesions appears like a scale that is attached at the edges and loose at the center * Itching of the lesions (mild to severe) * Skin redness or inflammation Treatment : well it needs no treatment as it usually disappears without treatment in four to six weeks, but may take several months.Irritants such as soap should be avoided.Though one can consult doctor(dermatoligist)
